I just really wondering ULTRA BLUE and SORRY SORRY were the most aggressively promoted albums in Taiwan.

ULTRA BLUE Taiwanese promotion

This album is perhaps her heaviest promoted album in Taiwan since her compilation album, Utada Hikaru Single Collection Vol. 1. Pre-order receipts were made available 2 weeks before the actual Taiwanese pressing of Ultra Blue. Those who pre-ordered received a very large-sized Japan imported Ultra Blue poster packaged in a transparent cylindrical tube. Commercials were aired often on buses, MRT stations, as well as local channels helping to promote the album, playing “Blue” in the background. One of its tag-line was, “The whole world is waiting, Utada Hikaru, Ultra Blue” (this is a direct translation). Also, Toshiba-EMI of Taiwan collaborated with Yam.com and created a special Ultra Blue blog similar to Utada’s Japanese blog. The website held an essay contest about “You and Utada Hikaru”. Toshiba-EMI Taiwan also held a private premier listening press party by inviting an ambassador from the Japan branch of Toshiba-EMI to represent the absent Utada. For what seems to be the final wave of promotion, the company put together a short “Blue” music video to air in between show blocks on various channels. The video consisted of pictures of the Ultra Blue booklet, the commercial clip of Ultra Blue and also a scene from the “Colors” video.

SORRY, SORRY Taiwanese promotion

Outside of Korea, Sorry, Sorry was heavily promoted in other Asian communities. Fifty-one subway trains in Taipei were covered with Sorry, Sorry advertisements from April 17 through May 7 to promote the Taiwan release of Sorry, Sorry, which was released on April 17. Amongst one of the trains was the “Super Junior Train”, in which the train was entirely covered with Super Junior posters. Taiwan also released an exclusive CD and DVD version of the album on August 14. Sorry, Sorry and its eponymous single was a huge hit in Taiwan, topping all available album and singles chart in the country. It debuted at #2 in Taiwan G-music’s Combo chart, #1 in the International chart and #1 in Five Music’s Korean chart.

ULTRA BLUE, though, is Utada Hikaru’s lowest selling album in her Japanese career, and in the other hand, SORRY, SORRY is Super Junior’s highest selling album on the group’s career, though they both received heavy promotions.

What do you think about this? Part 1 end.
